History:

Founded in 1994 as a local Vista, California, USA business, MDS was incorporated in the State of California in 1996. During the early 1990's, the founders recognized that the nature of work was changing. Work structures that evolved in the manufacture of products were optimized for success in repetitive processes. These processes were not designed for innovation. After investing a year and a half in research, the founders created a new business model that would reflect the coming economic needs and changes.

The founders then set up a business utilizing the new model. Medical technology projects were quickly, cost effectively, and successfully completed thus demonstrating the viability of the model. The business was entirely focused in obtaining and completing medical innovation projects. Revenue growth was very impressive. Completed projects include medical device design, materials selection, materials qualification, product concept creation, GLP audits, GCP audits, Process Documentation, Product and Process Validation, Patent litigation, and Product Failure Litigation (determination of failure cause). To date MDS innovation has fostered one Patent filing for a customer.

In October, 1997, this success brought the attention of the US Department of Commerce and a request to assist in the creation of a new work policy to promote MDS methods. Due to the information gained in the research to create MDS, our personnel understood the urgent need to support this request. Between October, 1997 and June, 1999, all MDS personnel as well as business friends provided support on this new policy development. At the invitation of the US Secretary of Commerce, Richard Hannah from MDS attended the inauguration of the "Digital Work Force" policy on June 30, 1999 that was held at the National Press Club, Washington, DC. During the creation of the policy, MDS personnel continued to undertake and successfully complete many projects.

Since 1999, while continuing to support customer needs, MDS personnel received many requests to meet with US government officials, local government officials, and leaders of other nations. MDS personnel supported these requests. Through the efforts of the US Commercial Service, San Diego Chamber of Commerce, and the San Diego World Trade Center, MDS personnel met with leaders of ten nations and countless global regions.

MDS has supported US economic development needs as well as the international requests. During 2008, Richard Hannah attended the US National District Export Council Trade Policy Conference. In 2008, MDS personnel provided work policy recommendations to the California Employment Development Department. In 2008 and 2009 Amy Hannah has been the facilitator of Licensing Executive Society-San Diego monthly meetings. In 2006 and 2007, Richard Hannah provided presentations on the economic advantages of the MDS business model to the International Trade Advisory Board - San Diego. During 2004, MDS personnel assisted in Stem Cell research policy creation. In June 2004, Vanissa Hannah and Richard Hannah attended the US National Economic Development Conference, held in Washington, DC, where Innovation was set as the new base work for the nation. During 2002, MDS provided a "Telecommuting" presentation to San Diego business leaders for the San Diego Alliance of Governments. And in 2001, Richard Hannah attended the US Congressional Council on Competitiveness Conference.
